Welcome

Principal Welcome

Hello Kellond Families,

My name is Angela Schiavone and I am the proud new principal of Kellond Elementary. I am incredibly honored and excited to be joining this wonderful school community. I know Kellond has worked hard to build a beautiful campus that focuses on student success, positive relationships, and rich instruction. I look forward carrying on this tradition.

A little about me, this will be the start of my 19th year in education with 11 of those years inside the classroom mainly teaching reading and writing. Since I have been out of the classroom, I have been a magnet coordinator, a curriculum service provider, and an assistant principal. I am married with two small and active children who keep me on my toes.

With school starting in a month, I wanted to reach out with some important information.

Arrival: Students can be on campus as early as 8:30am, either in the cafeteria for breakfast or out in the playground. At 9:10am, we will do an all call for students to line up with their teacher. Students are in class and ready to learn at 9:15am. All students who arrive after 9:15am are considered late and must be signed in at the front office by an adult.

Dismissal: M/T/TH/F dismissal is at 3:25pm and on Wednesday it is 2:25pm. Please make sure your student is aware of how they are getting home. If there is a change to the routine that they need to be aware of, please let the front office know at least 25 minutes in advance. In addition, we do not release students from class within 25 minutes of dismissal, and we will also not take call aheads to release your student before you get here.

  • • For parents picking up their student in a car and not wanting to get out, please use our south parking lot valet system.
  • • For parents who want to get out and meet their student on the playground, you can also use our south parking lot, or park to the East of the school by Palo Verde Park. You just cannot park on Lehigh street.
  • • For students taking the bus home, teachers will be at the bus bay assisting them.

Teacher Assignments: You may be able to see tentative teacher assignments on your Parent Vue account. By our Meet the Teacher event, all assignments will be finalized.

Supplies: Teachers will give their supply lists out at the Meet the Teacher event. They will also be posted on our website. Some general items that can be purchased ahead of time include backpacks, lunch boxes, water bottles, crayons, markers, and colored pencils.

Meals: All students can either pay to eat a cafeteria meal for breakfast and/or lunch or bring a meal from home. For elementary students, breakfast will be $1.50 and lunch will be $2.50. Students can pay with a check or cash for individual meals, or parents can prepay to their student account online. Information about setting up an account will be available mid-July on the Food Services website. If you would like to apply for a free or reduced meal, applications will also be available mid July on the Food Services website.

Thank you very much for your attention to this information. In order to insure you are getting all our communication, please update your information on Parentvue, complete your registration, and follow us on Facebook (Kellond Elementary School) and/or Instagram (kellondes).

Have a wonderful rest of your summer and we will see you soon!
